Build up of ABBYY FlexiCapture Processing Station files in C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Local\ABBYY\FlexiCapture\12.0\LocalDocumentStorage

Symptoms

You may experience an unexected build up of files in the FlexiCapture LocalDocumentStorage folder within the service account's AppData folder.

Cause

During normal operation the ABBYY FlexiCapture Processing Station uses local file cache folders to manage temporay files required for document processing. Ordinarily these files are managed automatically and destroyed once a task is complete.

This issue has been regonised by ABBYY: "#489559: LocalDocumentStorage folder in the AppData directory was not cleaned up automatically in some cases."

Resolution

Workaround: If the ABBYY FlexiCapture Processing Station service is temporarily stopped on the server then the LocalDocumentStorage folder can be deleted; it will be recreated by the service when next run.

The issue was resolved in FlexiCapture 12 Release 4 Update 2 (Build #12.0.4.803)
