Resolution

FileDirector WinClient can load scanned documents from a local 'watch folder'. This is not to be confused with FileDirector server loading documents from server-based hot folders [article required].

When the WinClient loads from a folder it's actually managed through 'Scan profiles'. See Scanning Documents in the WinClient help guide installed locally at: c:\Program Files (x86)\Spielberg Solutions GmbH\FileDirector\WinClient\Help\WinClient_en.pdf

Configuration using FileDirector Enterprise Manager

Launch the Enterprise Manager and open the cabinet in question.

Then find Scanning profiles.

Create a new scan profile.

Give the profile a sensible name/description (visible to the users later) and choose the appropriate document type.

Select the 'scanning' source.

Select 'Directory Scan' from the list.

And finally enter the directory. Please note that the directory will be local to the scanning user so c:\scans\invoice does not have to exist on the server itself.

Set permissions for the scanning profile as below, and also ensure that the intended scanning users have permission to 'Scan' at all (through membership of the fd-scan group).

You will now see the new 'scanner' you've set up in the WinClient.
