Shared o365 Mailbox can have a password and login enabled

Created by Jeremy Burgess, Modified on Thu, 6 Jan, 2022 at 1:23 PM by Jeremy Burgess

Symptoms

When using a shared Office 365 mailbox it is often necessary to have the mailbox credentials rather than the credentials of a user [e.g. service account] which can access that mailbox.

In a scenario where an email should be processed from Exchange/o365 then moved (or copied) to a folder afterwards, e.g. \Inbox\Processed you will require the mailbox owner credentials.

Resolution

A shared mailbox can have a password and login enabled without license. See the following guide for details on set/reset of the mailbox user password.
