Installing FileDirector Component Services

Created by Jeremy Burgess, Modified on Tue, 22 Oct at 2:17 PM by Jeremy Burgess

Symptoms

You want to work with FileDirector from within MS Office. The most common use case for Component Services is the MS Outlook integration which allows you to save emails, and/or there attachments, directly into FileDirector.

Cause

n/a

Resolution

You will need the FileDirector WinClient - this is assumed to be installed already.

For installing FileDirector Component Services:

  1. Obtain a copy of the installer, you will normally be able to download this from http://<yourserver>/FileDirector
  2. Run the FileDirector Component Service (.exe or .msi) file for this and click the next button
  3. There will be an OfficeLink check box. You need to check for this to work in Office applications.
  4. When this has finished. Check Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook and see if you are able to see a new File Director tab at the top. If you are unable to see this please refer to No FileDirector Tab in MS Office (Component Services).
